THE LABOR OF LOVE

The Labor of Love interrogates the different facets of maternal labor, drawing connections between housework and typically laborious feminine craft. Taking typographic and compositional inspiration from birth certificates and family scrapbooks, the design represent the oppressive/labor intensive systems built around motherhood but also its inherent beauty.

Anjali Arasasingham (she/her)
Design / Art / Photo

I'm Anjali, a designer and artist originally from Southern California but now based in New York City. I am pursuing a BFA in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design with specific interests in editorial design, branding, and the intersection between graphic design and art. I love pink, painting, and I wear a lot of polka dots.

When designing, my first steps are always research and experimentation. I believe foundational research in tandem with freeform conceptual exploration is imperative in creating balanced designs.
